MONET Supports Undergraduate Participation at 2024 International Symposium on Photon Fusion and Fission
From July 23 to 25, 2024, Senior Investigator Luis Campos from MONET attended the International Symposium on Photon Fusion and Fission, which included a dedicated educational component for undergraduate summer students. This initiative, partially funded by a Department of Energy grant, aimed to increase the participation of underrepresented students in science. The symposium featured 70 participants, with 7 undergraduate students presenting posters and flash talks, providing valuable professional development opportunities for the graduate students involved.
The 2024 International Symposium on Photon Fusion and Fission, attended by MONET Senior Investigator Luis Campos, marked a significant event for MONET's Higher Education and Professional Development (HEPD) initiatives.
The symposium included a dedicated educational component designed to increase the participation of underrepresented students in science, supported by a Department of Energy grant. Luis Campos attended the symposium alongside Ming Lee Tang from the University of Utah and Matthew Y. Sfeir from CUNY, ensuring that MONET was well-represented and actively contributing to the educational and scientific discussions.
The symposium attracted 70 participants and provided a platform for seven undergraduate students to present their research through posters and flash talks. This experience was crucial for the graduate students involved, allowing them to engage with leading researchers in the field, receive feedback on their work, and develop their communication and presentation skills.
