MOSAIC Fellowship

MONET seeks postdoctoral trainees for The Molecular Science and Integrated Collaboration (MOSAIC) Postdoctoral Fellowship.

MONET seeks postdoctoral trainees for The Molecular Science and Integrated Collaboration (MOSAIC) Postdoctoral Fellowship.

MOSAIC Postdoctoral Fellows perform innovative, collaborative research at several participating institutions and contribute in at least one of our four signature areas of broader impact: Informal Science Communication, Leadership, Innovation, and/or Scientific Breadth.

The PREC program includes two Tracks to catalyze the development of research and educational endeavors at MSIs and improve the PREC pathway (recruitment, retention, degree attainment):

  • Track 1 focuses on establishing and strengthening the PREC pathway through concentrated research and education collaborations.

  • Track 2 includes additional opportunities for expanding the PREC network while building larger collaborations and enhancing research capabilities at the MSIs with support for integrating research and educational activities.

The MONET team is excited to develop partnering activities with MSIs jointly, and we are particularly interested in activities that:

  1. tangibly broaden and nurture participation in research activities at both MONET and the partner institution(s)

  2. lead to impactful systemic changes that are manifested through research output, productivity, and student retention at both MONET and the partner institution(s)

  3. take advantage of the enabling data tools for polymer chemistry being developed by MONET and our partners

Eligibility

Applicants must have earned a PhD by the start of the fellowship.

We are especially interested in recruiting postdoctoral trainees who identify as part of a group underrepresented in the sciences. These groups include female, genderqueer, transgender, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latinx, Native American or Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, bisexual, gay, lesbian, queer, persons with a disability, and veterans of the US Armed Forces, Reserves, or National Guard. The MOSAIC Postdoctoral Fellowship supports outstanding postdocs for this purpose.

If you represent an MSI and are interested in exploring a PREC partnership with MONET, email us at monet-cci@duke.edu.

All applications must include the following:

  • Cover letter - Briefly describe your research contributions and how they complement MONET’s scientific goals. Additionally, discuss which MONET senior investigator aligns best with your research interests and serves as your primary training laboratory.

  • Contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) statement</strong> (1 page). Briefly describe past contributions to DEI efforts in academia and how you envision contributing to MONET’s signature areas of broader impact.

  • Curriculum vitae.

  • Name and contact information for at least three people who are willing to provide letters of recommendation.

MONET is committed to diversifying all STEM fields by broadening participation in underrepresented groups.
