A team from the Klausen, Kulik, and Craig labs report the preparation of a new class of oligosilane dienes and their acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymers. Their data suggest that substitution of carbon with silicon in linear polymers will have a substantial effect on the mechanical properties of materials, and motivates the design of polymer networks with heavier carbon analogues that will be future synthetic targets.
